B A M A M I X Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 7:00 PM Pell City Center - 120 Williamson Drive (next to the high school) Admission $15 / $10 students, teachers, and seniors A mix of electronica, mixed-media, and classical chamber music: Compositions by Michael Angell, Craig Biondi, Monroe Golden, Marc LeMay, Charles Norman Mason, and William Price. Performances by flutist Donnie Ashworth, pianist Adam Bowles, and cellist Craig Hultgren. Choreography and dance by Deborah Mauldin. Those who play the traditional instruments of classical music can sometimes be rather ... uh ... snobbish about their music. Mixing their instruments with -- gasp! -- electronic elements or even -- gulp! --multimedia can be seen not only as shocking but downright heretical and sacrilegious. Members of BAMA ... not only welcome such combinations, they actively seek them out, performing concerts and writing music especially for the purpose of musical mix-and-match. Shawn Ryan, The Anniston Star top |
